What is GMSL to enhance spatial and perceptual awareness of autonomous robots?
What are GMSL-compliant modules that enable constant visualization and real-time data acquisition for industrial automation?
Tier IV (TIER IV) is promoting social implementation of automated driving systems as a deep-tech company leading the development of Autoware, the world’s first open-source automated driving software.
In developing a product based on its automated driving software, such a company has collaborated with Analog Devices to develop a module that converts data from GMSL (Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link) to Ethernet.
Analog Devices’ GMSL technology enables high-speed data transfer, real-time communication, and power transmission simultaneously over a single wire.
Although widely used in automotive applications, the GMSL devices developed by Tiafoe and Analog Devices also support industrial automation, meeting the need for visualization in a wide variety of fields.
Specific application areas include smart agriculture and aquaculture, intelligent infrastructure with traffic monitoring, building automation including security and surveillance, in-flight entertainment in aerospace, and surgical robots, endoscopes, and smart operating rooms in digital medicine.
GMSL can increase the spatial and perceptual awareness of autonomous robotic systems, while real-time data analysis provides actionable insights into the data collected by diagnostic and optimization functions to improve productivity and flexibility.
In addition, low latency, high-speed data, and real-time communications enable human-collaborating robots (cobots) to make faster decisions for safe operation.
Tearfour and Analog Devices will present a case study of their joint development of a combined platform for a system that converts data from GMSL2 to Ethernet.
