Necessary Technology for BEV Conversion from Air Conditioner Failure
We thought it would cool down a bit, but the heat is still on.
This year, one of the cars had an air conditioning problem and is spending most of its time in a state of unstable cooling.
Through the experience of being in such a hot car, we were reminded of the interior and exterior technologies that are necessary for the future spread of BEVs.
Vehicle heat management, including air conditioning in BEVs, has evolved significantly over the past few years, starting with the introduction of Tesla’s “Octovalve.
However, air conditioning still imposes a heavy power load and is a handicap in terms of cruising range.
Under these circumstances, technologies to reduce the load of air conditioning use have already been proposed, such as glass and interiors with a heat shielding function and car body paints with a self-radiation cooling function.
Since these technologies do not require complex mechanisms or controls and can be applied to vehicles other than BEVs, we hope that they will be widely used in mass-produced models as soon as possible, since economies of scale can be expected.
The following is a brief summary by field, covering the technology trends that could become in-stream.
