Hyundai Motor Group 2035 Strategy
Hyundai Motor Group (HMG), South Korea’s largest automotive company, has risen to third place in the world with 7.23 million vehicles produced in 2024.
The CEO Investor Day 2025 for Hyundai and Kia, both of which are part of HMG, each set a sales target for 2030, and the combined sales target of the two companies is 9.74 million units, putting 10 million units in sight.
If they achieve this volume, they will overtake the VW Group to become the world’s second largest manufacturer after Toyota.
Looking at HMG’s current situation, however, while innovation and change can be seen in key areas such as products, R&D, and business areas, issues related to human resources and organization, strategy and planning, and finance still remain.
In particular, many of HMG’s problems related to human resources, organization, and strategy/planning have not yet surfaced, and it appears that the company faces a mountain of issues when considering whether it has the appropriate structure to become the world’s second largest manufacturer with a target of 10 million units by the 2030s.
Other factors that may directly or indirectly affect the future of the group include labor union issues and the political environment in and outside of Korea.
HMG’s next 10 years are analyzed and forecasted as a benchmark for automakers and auto parts suppliers that compete with HMG,
