GMSL-compliant module developed by Tearfour in collaboration with vendors

Tier IV (TIER IV) promotes the social implementation of automated driving systems as a deep-tech company leading the development of Autoware, the world’s first open-source automated driving software.

In developing a product based on its automated driving software, TIER IV collaborated with Analog Devices to develop a module that converts data from GMSL (Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link) to Ethernet.
Analog Devices’ GMSL technology enables high-speed data transfer, real-time communication, and power transmission simultaneously over a single wire.

While widely used in automotive applications, the GMSL devices developed by Tiafoe and Analog Devices also address industrial automation, meeting the need for visualization in a wide variety of fields.
Specific application areas include smart agriculture and aquaculture, intelligent infrastructure with traffic monitoring, building automation including security and surveillance, in-flight entertainment in aerospace, and surgical support robots, endoscopes, and smart operating rooms in digital medicine.
With GMSL, autonomous robotic systems can increase their spatial and perceptual awareness, and real-time data analysis can provide actionable insights into the data collected by diagnostic and optimization functions to improve productivity and flexibility.

In addition, low latency, high-speed data, and real-time communications will enable robots (cobots) that collaborate with humans to make decisions quickly for safe operation.
