AUTOSAR is indispensable in the SDV era

With the advent of the SDV era, software and data now greatly influence the value of a vehicle. In line with this trend, standardization of in-vehicle software is progressing not only inside the vehicle, but also in data integration with outside the vehicle.

The SDV era has created the need to develop more complex and larger ECUs, and the latest AUTOSAR standard has been created to meet this need. The features and some functions of the newest standard, AUTOSAR AP, are introduced here.
We will introduce “AUTOSAR AP”, which is indispensable for future in-vehicle software development, and also introduce the concept of FC (Function Cluster) [Automotive API Gateway (ara::aag)] newly introduced in the latest AUTOSAR AP standard (R24-11) for the standardization of vehicle data. The following is an introduction to the concept.

AUTOSAR (Automotive Open System Architecture) is an international development partnership for the standardization of in-vehicle software in the automotive industry. established in 2003, major companies such as BMW, Bosch, and Volkswagen are participating.

Objectives of AUTOSAR
– Standardization of in-vehicle software: compatibility between different manufacturers and ECUs (electronic control units)
– Reduce development costs: Facilitate software reuse and improve development efficiency
– Improve safety and reliability: Ensure quality through standardized architecture

AUTOSAR Structure
AUTOSAR offers the following two platforms
– Classic Platform (CP): real-time control system for traditional ECUs
– Adaptive Platform (AP): flexible system for highly automated and connected cars

This standardization ensures software compatibility between vehicles from different manufacturers and increases development efficiency.
