5 cases of consultation that are frequently received in Vietnam
Obtaining a VNeID (Vietnam Electronic ID) Account
VNeID accounts for foreigners and corporations have been issued since July 1, 2025.
For various administrative procedures for Vietnamese corporations, it is expected that the VNeID of the Vietnamese corporate organization will be required, and in order to obtain such an account, the legal representative (individual) will be required to obtain a VNeID in advance.
Confirmation of unpaid tax liabilities and receipt of lump-sum social insurance payment upon return of expatriates
In Vietnam, there are cases where restrictions on departure from the country are imposed on those who have not paid taxes in accordance with laws and regulations.
For this reason, we have been consulting with clients who wish to confirm whether they have any unpaid personal income taxes in Vietnam prior to their return to their home country.
Expatriates who were covered by social insurance in Vietnam may apply for the social insurance lump-sum benefit upon their return to Vietnam.
Obligation to prepare transfer pricing documentation
In Vietnam, companies are required to prepare transfer pricing documentation if their annual sales are 50 billion VND (approx. 280 million yen) or more, or if transactions with related parties (25% or more investment) are 30 billion VND or more (approx. 170 million yen).
Please consult with us if your company is likely to exceed this threshold due to an increase in transactions at its Vietnamese subsidiary.
Reinforcement of internal control of purchasing operations, etc.
We are often consulted by companies that are concerned about their internal controls over purchasing and other operations, want to understand the current status of their business processes, and want to confirm problem areas.
We also provide support from a professional perspective, including Vietnamese accounting and taxation, and assistance in verifying Vietnamese-language documents when the internal audit office in Japan conducts an internal audit of a Vietnamese subsidiary.
Tax Health Check (Tax Health Check)
In preparation for tax audits in Vietnam, we offer tax health checks to ensure that there are no problems with past tax returns.
By filing amended tax returns, if necessary, prior to a tax audit, it may be possible to reduce the amount of additional tax due and penalties.
If you have any other concerns or questions regarding Vietnam, please do not hesitate to contact us.
