In the automotive industry, electrification, software development, and the convergence of cars and services are accelerating, and conventional wisdom is no longer applicable.
The slowdown in EV sales, the weight of software development, the complexity of dealing with regulations, and the boardroom conflicts with existing businesses are all increasing reasons for new businesses and R&D at large companies to halt operations, including the following.
Uncertain where to place the next step of electrification (EV/HV/FCV).
Hardware sales are not profitable, and the direction of the profit model is not clear.
